Where is St George's Park?
St George's Park is at Uxbridge Street and Great Hampton Row, Birmingham, B19 3JJ
In brief
The park was developed in the years following the demolition of St George's Church in 1961. All that remains is a war memorial, some gravestones and the tomb of Thomas Rickman. The park has a play area in the middle, and is surrounded by four tower blocks probably built in the 1960s.

St George's Park - history
St George's Church was built at Great Hampton Row, from designs by Thomas Rickman around 1821.
When the Diocese of Birmingham was formed in 1905, this was the original church chosen to be a cathedral in Birmingham, however St Philip's Church was chosen instead (and was more centrally located in the City Centre).
The church remains there for many years, but was demolished around 1960-61 due to structural problems.

What looks like the only remaining section of St George's Church, is actually the Tomb of Thomas Rickman (1776-1841). It is Grade II listed.

Also surviving in the former church grounds of St George's Church is this war memorial, a WW1 Celtic Cross, in memory of those lost during the First World War (1914-18).
